Tree Care & Maintenance

Besides trimming or pruning your woody plants there are other ways to keep them on your property for years to come. Below are services that we offer at M & M Tree Service that we can do to keep your trees healthy and safe for you and your family.

AIR SPADING AND ROOT FLARE EXCAVATION

The Air Spade is an arborist's tool for safely removing soil from the base of a tree or around its roots, without significant damage. The tool uses high pressure air through a hose to blow the soil away from a trunk or roots, which provides the opportunity to examine the condition of roots, root flare, or the trunk.

CABLING & BRACING

Tree cabling and bracing is the installation of flexible steel strand cables and braces in trees to reduce stress damage from high winds, the weight of ice or snow and heavy foliage.

STAKING & GUYING

Staking and guying trees provide wind protection and allow trees to grow straight. Stakes are driven underground to provide resistance to wind and are connected to guy wires with proper tree straps, that attach to the lower branches of the tree.

SOIL AMMENDMENTS & MULCHING

soil amendment is any material added to a soil to improve its physical properties, such as water retention, permeability, water infiltration, drainage, aeration, pH and structure. In addition to these benefits, mulch also buffers soil temperature, keeping soils warmer in spring and cooler in summer.

FERTILIZING TREES

The main reason that you want to fertilize your trees is to bolster their health, encourage new growth and develop a strong root system to fight off pests, disease, and environmental stresses. Young trees with a trunk diameter of less than 6 inches can especially benefit from regular applications of fertilizer.

INSECT & PEST MANAGEMENT

There are over 10000 pests that attack woody plants in Ontario. Artificial control of these is often for cosmetic purposes. Pesticides should be applied only against specific pests, and at a time when their abundance or the injury they cause makes spraying justifiable.
